Lake Dillon – Dillon Reservoir
Since 2009 Adventure Paddle Tours formally Kayak Lake Dillon has been offering award winning guided kayak tours out of the Frisco Bay Marina, on the beautiful shores of Dillon Reservoir at Lake Dillon. We are conveniently located 50 miles from downtown Denver, 9 miles from Breckenridge and 15 miles from Vail. Dillon Reservoir is nestled between the beautiful Ten Mile Range, the Gore Range and the Williams Fork Range, which was once at the center of the Colorado Gold rush. Before western settlers arrived the Native Utes call the area Nauncara, which meant valley of the Blue. Denver water started construction on Dillon Dam in 1961 and work was completed by 1963. With a surface area of 3,332 acres and 26 miles of shoreline, Dillon reservoir is sure to provide paddlers with more than enough water to explore and unlike the Dillon side of the reservoir, the Frisco side offers numerous islands and coves, which provide protection from our well known afternoon winds and thunderstorms. Giberson Bay located just north of Frisco provides a great opportunity to view wildlife such as bald eagles, beavers, moose, deer and numerous waterfowl. We operate out of the Frisco Bay Marina at Lake Dillon, all guests should meet here at least 15 minutes before their scheduled kayak tour. Please plan ahead, the marina can get super busy on weekends and holidays.
