For the past 4 years, this tour has included a short stop near a nesting pair of Bald Eagles. These tours depart daily please click book now for availability, we always recommend the earliest available time, due to weather.

Fishhook Island

Our Island Tour is our number selling kayak tour on Dillon Reservoir. It is great for all ages and abilities, as long as there is one capable kayaker per two-person kayak. This tour will explore all of the hidden spots on the Dillon. Guests will kayak along the Frisco Peninsula splitting Fish Hook Island. Located on Fish Hook island guests can expect to see one of the few remaining beaver homes on the Reservoir. Beavers, muskrats, and mule deer are often spotted on or near this island.

Sentinal Island

From Fishhook Island guests will cross from the Frisco Peninsula to Sentinal Island. Sentinal Island is Dillon’s largest Island, and is home to our resident bald eagles and Pirates Cove. The crossing from Fishook to Sentinal is the busiest stretch of Dillon Reservoir and requires capable paddlers to make it across quickly. This is a short crossing, but can be busy.

Pirates Cove

Pirates Cove is our absolute favorite location on Dillon Reservoir. The cove is protected on all four sides, allowing us to stop and rest around an hour into our tour. At high water there are two access points. Water permitting this tour will enter pirates cove from a shallow and narrow route on the Dillon side. This narrow passage features an amazing view on the 10-mile range and provides us with a great photo op.

Heaton Bay Campground

Once guests have had their fill with amazing photos and a good break, we will exit Pirate Cove and head towards the Heaton Bay Campground. This campground is home to a large Great Blue Heron Rookery and is a location where we have spotted moose. This location on Dillon Reservoir gives us one more opportunity for a solid break before crossing Giberson Bay, the last large and exposed crossing on this tour.

Giberson Bay

Once guests have crossed Giberson Bay we will enter the more shallow and very protected area of Dillon. In Giberson Bay guests have a great opportunity for spotting Moose, Ducks, Beavers, and Mule dear. This is also
